Safe-Cell I Series EO Wet Scrubber
With the Safe-Cell I series scrubber, the gas stream enters the scrubber below the packing, where it is introduced to the scrubbing liquid and packing media. Whether EO or PO, the scrubbing liquid is 5% Sulfuric Acid for absorbing the contaminant. Because of their low solubility and high volatility, Epoxides require a very large water flow to facilitate absorptive mass transfer. Acid allows recirculation of the water by catalyzing reaction of the Epoxides to form Glycols.
After absorption, this reaction is carried out in one or more large tanks through which the scrubber water is recirculated. The water is spent when it reaches 40% concentration of Glycol, at which point it is discharged for waste treatment or disposal and replaced with freshwater and acid.
After the contaminants are absorbed into the scrubbing liquid, the moist air is then directed through a mist eliminator to remove the droplets within the airstream, then the cleaned gas is discharged to atmosphere.
Custom Designed
Custom designed equipment is a major portion of the air pollution and emission control products supplied by Advanced Air Technologies, Inc.. Each Safe-Cell I scrubber system is designed, built, and operated to meet customers’ specific application and performance goals.
Materials of Construction
Safe-Cell I series scrubbers are standardly constructed of corrosion-resistant Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP). For applications requiring relatively small units, thermoplastics such as Polypropylene or PVC may be used.
Efficiency
The Safe-Cell I series scrubbers can be designed to achieve an EO removal efficiency as high as 99.99%, depending upon the specifics of the application.
